TAEKWONDO FOR CHILDREN
Taekwondo classes at Pride Martial Arts offers a multitude of benefits that students can use for the rest of their lives. It allows children to gain control of aggressive behavior and the gain of respect, self-control, self esteem, focus, confidence, and courtesy. Taekwondo training gives your child the chance to strengthen in mind as well as body. It encompasses not just physical conditioning, but mental and emotional lessons as well.
In a world of competitive children’s sports where “win at all costs” seems to be the popular creed of today, taekwondo offers children a chance to focus on their own growth and maturity rather than simply beating an opponent. Our classes teach students to compete against themselves, to try even harder than they did last time, and to constantly reach higher and higher, always testing the limits of their ability.
Taekwondo can also help students with ADD or ADHD gain a natural control of their emotions and body. While these students tend to struggle in the beginning, these students often surprise their parents by demonstrating the focus and control taught in Taekwondo at home. Taekwondo allows these students to develop an increased attention span, decrease distraction, develop motor and behavioral control, improve self-esteem, and build positive peer relationships.
Classes at Pride Martial Arts are also an excellent outlet for the natural energy that children exude. Rather than letting a child keep all that energy inside and self-destruct, Pride Martial Arts gives a child the chance to expend energy that might otherwise be destructive at home. Children naturally want to run around and use up this energy, and taekwondo gives them a chance to channel it into something constructive and positive that they can use for the rest of their lives.
